Deerfield Fence Installation Permit Process
Permit is Required:
Installing new fence Replacing sections of existing fence
Permit is NOT Required:
Making changes to existing fence Replacing fence with original permit on file
Replacement of fence for which the original permit cannot be produced Invisible fences (underground wire)
ALL Submissions for a Fence Permit Application Require:
- A completed Building Permit Application with ALL of the following information:
- Homeowner’s name, address, phone number and signature
- Contractor’s name, address, phone number and signature
- Estimated Cost of the Job
- Brief Description of work to be done; Include fence type and height
- 2 copies of the plat of survey clearly marked (in color) to show the exact location and height of the planned fencing.
- A copy of the proposal or exact cost of project.
Permit Processing Time/ Fee:
- Fence permits may take approximately 10 working days to process. The base fee is $50.00
- An Infrastructure Impact Fee will be included on all permits at 0.5% of the cost of the project.
- The fees are payable with cash or check only.
Fence Installation:
- Fences can be no taller than 3 feet when placed in the front yard or 7 feet when placed in the side or rear yards. The front yard is defined by the Zoning Ordinance as that portion of the yard facing the shortest street dimension of the lot. This may not necessarily be the direction faced by the front entrance of the house.
- Fences around swimming pools and hot tubs must be no less than 4 feet high and enclose the entire pool area or the perimeter of the property.
- Fences can be placed up to the edge of your property line but must remain entirely on your lot.
- The ‘good side’ of the fence may face either in or out.
- No exposed electrified wire or barbed wire fences are permitted.
- Prior to digging / installation, you must call J.U.L.I.E. at 1-800-892-0123 to have any buried wires/cables/pipes located.
NO inspections are required.
