Arched & Scalloped Picket wood fence

Wood Fence Style

Who an arched or scalloped picket fence suits

Arched and scalloped pickets are about shape. Instead of a flat top line, the pickets rise to a peak in the middle of each section, or dip to a low point, so the fence has a gentle wave along its length.

It keeps the open, friendly feel of a picket fence and adds curb appeal. Good fit for:

  • Front yards and cottage gardens
  • Walkways and garden entries
  • Homeowners who want a picket fence with more personality

Opinions about fence installation by THE GUY ON 41

When it comes to a Fence instillation.. there is no better company in the north shore/chicago that I would recommend more than Fenceworks. They truly care about each customer like their family. I was informed every step of the way, true transparency throughout. Pricing was fair and competitive, and the craftsmanship was truly amazing. I look forward to buying a playground, trampoline, and basketball hoop this spring to wrap up all my home improvement projects in the future!

I am so happy with the work that was completed. Fast, friendly, courteous, and honest. I had a beautiful fence built in my backyard and they worked so hard and quickly. I could not be happier and I will use them for any future projects.

Arched and scalloped picket fence installation

Learn More Show Less

An arched picket fence peaks in the middle of each section. A scalloped picket fence dips. Both give a front yard a softer, more finished edge than a straight picket line, and both look good with an arbor at the gate.

Curved picket lines only work if every section matches. Fenceworks builds these fences on site, setting each picket by hand so the curve repeats evenly from post to post.

If you want privacy with a curved top instead, look at our solid arch or scalloped style. Book a free on-site estimate and we'll help you pick.

What's the difference between arched and scalloped?

Arched pickets rise to a high point in the middle of each section. Scalloped pickets dip to a low point in the middle.

Is this style private?

No. The pickets are spaced. For a curved top with full privacy, see our solid arch or scalloped style.

Can I combine a curved top with gothic pickets?

Yes. Gothic and French gothic pickets can both be set in a scalloped line.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. All fence estimates are free and done at your home.
