Posts Set to Last
How long a fence lasts comes down to its posts, so this is where we're most careful. Every cedar post is hand-picked and set deep to industry standard, so the fence stays straight through Chicago's freeze and thaw. Prefer steel? Steel posts are available as an upgrade.
Cedar Rails
The rails tie every board to the posts, so they carry the weight of the whole fence. We use professional-grade cedar for them, not the cheaper lumber that warps, splits and rots first.
Thicker, Denser Boards
Our pickets are thicker, wider and denser than big-box lumber. They cost a little more up front, and they're what keeps a fence looking right after years of Chicagoland weather and everyday wear.
Built Board by Board
This is what sets us apart. We never put up pre-made panels. Every fence is built on site, one board at a time, fitted to your yard's grade and property lines. It's how Stan Ascher, the original Guy on 41, built fences in 1967, and it's how we still build them.

Naturally resists decay and insects, with a rich reddish-brown grain that stands up to hard winters. -

Natural oils resist rot and warping. Stain it to keep the warm red tone, or let it weather to silver-grey. -

A pale, native cedar that resists rot and insects and needs very little upkeep.

Is a lattice top fence still private?
Yes, at eye level. The shadow box section blocks the view, and the lattice band sits above it.
Can I grow plants on the lattice?
Yes. Climbing plants and vines take to lattice well.
Can I get a lattice top on other styles?
Yes. We also build traditional and board on board fences with lattice tops. Ask about them during your estimate.
Does it look the same from both sides?
Yes. The shadow box body alternates boards on both sides of the rails, so both yards get the finished side.
